Rambo

The General Thought Behind This Flick

The story of Rambo? Well if you are like me the story almost doesn't matter for this movie. You want to see Rambo lay his boot to some deserving bad guy behind. If this is your aspiration then you have found the right movie. However if you need to know what it is about, I guess I can sum it up for you quickly.

Rambo is a soldier without a country, living the life of a cobra snake catcher/transporter of random people down a war torn river. It is actually the later of those two professions which gives this movie its story. After having his soldierly heart strings pulled at by probably the first woman Rambo has seen since First Blood III, he agrees to transport a group of bible-thumpers into a war torn area. Shortly upon leaving the thumpers, he learns they have gone missing and are probably in the clutches of some nefarious characters. Thus Rambo must kill everyone who stands between him and the woman who tugged at his manly heart. And believe me there are many who stand in the way.

Thoughts

This movie has little story and Stallone still can't speak English, but if extreme gore and non-stop action are what you seek than your search has ended. This movie has probably the most brutal war scenes I have ever seen in a movie. And I have seen a lot of movies. Think the opening scene to "Saving Private Ryan" and extend it by about 35 minutes and you have Rambo. The opening to the movie is a bit dry sure, but it is all about building anticipation for the violence which ensues about half-way threw. If you enjoy action movies, this is a great movie. I loved it. It won't bring home any Oscars this year, but it will definitely leave a smile on the face of anyone who enjoyed the old Stallone/Schwarzenegger days.

My Rating - 7/10 borderline 8 because its freaking Rambo.
